I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in private practice in NYC, working with people seeking to deepen their understanding of themselves and facilitate meaningful changes in their lives.
I believe that healing is effected by helping you become more whole, which means more than just focusing on symptom reduction. Being whole means living with wisdom and authenticity, in sync with your deeper Self and the world around you. The natural byproducts of this deeper attunement with yourself are happiness, equanimity and peace.
Many of my clients feel restless, empty or like something is missing from their lives. Wrestling with these experiences can lead to anxiety and depressive symptoms, as well as tense relationships with loved ones. My goal is to help you overcome them through new awareness and by tapping into your unlived potential.
My therapeutic approach is based on Jungian analytic psychology. I custom-tailor treatment to your needs by balancing deeper, insight-oriented work with skills-based approaches to reduce suffering. This means working with you to address painful feelings immediately, through practical coping techniques, and also exploring the root causes and roadblocks to becoming more whole. We will gain new insights into your relationship patterns by better understanding your past, (re-)connect with your deeper values, and free you from traumatic experiences and ineffectual coping strategies.
Please note: All sessions are virtual at this time.
Insurances accepted: Aetna, NYU Wellfleet. I’m out of network for all other insurances, but can give you a super-bill for out-of-network benefits and/or your FSA/HSA.
I am not a MediCare/MedicAid provider.
Specialties
Anxiety
We all experience anxiety – it is our natural alarm system. Sometimes that alarm can be too sensitive or alert us to situations which are not inherently dangerous. When that happens, you may miss opportunities or play it too safe, disconnecting you from yourself and others.
There are many types of anxiety – social, public speaking, intimacy, saying “no,” trying something new. Learning to manage your anxiety and saying yes to new opportunities despite the risks can be a daunting but achievable journey. One that is certainly worth the risk!!!
There are also many effective therapeutic ways to work with anxiety. We will collaborate to find the best-suited approach for your personality and lifestyle. Once we understand your goals, we would work on developing your confidence, assertiveness, and self esteem to reach them.
LGBTQIA+
Members of the LGBTQIA+ community are more vulnerable to physical and mental health pressures than their heterosexual counterparts due to sexual minority stressors—defined as experiences of discrimination, bullying, sexual/gender identity concealment, and stigma. These stressors can have profound impacts on your personality, sense of self, quality of intimate relationships, and lead to mood and substance use disorders.
Chances are that you have encountered such stressors at one point in your life, and that you have learned to cope with them as best you can. If they have shaped your expectations in a painful or restrictive manner, however, such as feeling alone, expecting rejection, hiding parts of yourself, or engaging in risky behaviors, then let’s work together on developing freer, healthier ways to be yourself and engage more authentically with the world.
Trauma / PTSD
Trauma – Greek for psychological wound – changes the trajectory of your life and affects each person differently. People suffering from PTSD often feel alienated from themselves and others - like being in a fog. Others may alternate between feelings of numbness and hyper-vigilance, while others struggles with nightmares and flashbacks.
If you are experiencing such symptoms, or if specific places, dates, people, even songs may trigger and hijack their day, please reach out. While difficult, there is a path out of the fog, and your life can significantly improve if you make a commitment to yourself. My treatment will targeted to your specific experience, and emotional and psychological needs.
My Approach
I practice Jungian psychotherapy and have had extensive training in psychodynamic and CBT modalities. Psychology seeks to better understand and heal your psyche (mind, soul) by working with the wisdom that is contained within you.
Our age has shifted all emphasis to the here and now, and thus brought about a daemonization of man and his world. Man’s task is to become conscious of the contents that press upwards from the unconscious. As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being. (CG Jung, Memories, Dreams, Reflections.)
Carl Jung developed the individuation process, through which a person consciously develops their unique life philosophy to become whole, thus living more fully and authentically. He decried the increasing specialization and fragmentation of our society, as it disconnects us from our instincts, emotions and Nature. While the pursuit of specialization may bring success, it also narrows one’s personality, as one spends more time perfecting that part of oneself — this leaves the rest of one’s personality, with all its potential, depth and breadth, unconscious. Jungian psychology is an antidote to the growing alienation as it works to unite conscious and unconscious aspects of your personality. Like Yin and Yang, conscious and unconscious are meant to be in balance - much of our work will center on better understanding these two forces within yourself, and finding inner harmony.
So what can you expect?
Therapy is what you need it to be. No topic is too big or too small. By gaining a more holistic understanding of yourself, you can free yourself from old, unconscious patterns and beliefs that are holding you back.
In terms of day-to-day work, we’ll talk a lot about you, what’s happening in your life, and what your experiences mean to you. We’ll also make room for the Unconscious, by working with your dreams, fantasies and creative expression.
You’ll know therapy is working when you find that you’re more
Accepting of yourself and others,
Attuned to your feelings, thoughts and body sensations,
Adaptive to stressful situations,
In loving, enriching and mutually supportive relationships
Wholly and authentically you.
“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life, and you will call it fate.” — Carl Gustav Jung
“One of the most wicked destructive forces, psychologically speaking, is unused creative power ... If someone has a creative gift and out of laziness, or for some other reason, doesn't use it, the psychic energy turns to sheer poison. That's why we often diagnose neuroses and psychotic diseases as not-lived higher possibilities…” — Marie Louise von Franz
Background
My love for psychology was born from growing up and working around the world. During my formative years, I met people from diverse backgrounds and cultures, and before becoming a psychologist, I worked in business for 15 years. Through it all, I’ve loved getting to really know people and understand what brings them joy. Nowadays, in my practice, this passion means helping my clients overcome the obstacles to a freer, joy-filled life.
As a world citizen, I am accustomed to working with international people immigrating and settling in the US. Originally from Vienna, educated in the Lycée Français, I grew up in Austria, France and South Africa before coming to the US for college. I offer therapy in English, French and German.
As an anxiety and trauma specialist, I have helped clients overcome their social or relational anxiety so that they can pursue their goals, live authentically and find their voice. I also have significant training and experience in working with survivors of sexual assault, PTSD, stigmatization, bullying, homophobia, and emotional/verbal/physical abuse.
As a gay woman, I have personal insight into the unique pressures of growing up and working as an LGBTQIA+ person, and the challenges/rewards of coming out in personal and professional settings. In 2023, I also worked part time as a Clinical Supervisor in LGBTQ+ Mental Health Initiative at Yale on a gender affirming treatment study for queer-identified women.
Prior to private practice, I worked 5 years at NYU’s Counseling Center, where I was part of the Trauma, Mindfulness and LGBTQIA+ specialty teams. I have trained in highly diverse settings in NYC including Mount Sinai Beth Israel, the Manhattan Veteran Affairs, the Center for HIV Educational Studies & Training, and Fordham University Counseling Center.
I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Ferkauf Graduate School, which is affiliated with the Albert Einstein Medical School. I also have an MBA from Columbia Business School and a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the Cornell School of Engineering, and a Bac D from the Lycée Français.

Let’s Connect
Thank you for visiting me here – Deciding to invest time and energy in therapy is a big decision!
Research indicates that the most important predictor of success in therapy is fit – i.e. how comfortable you feel with your therapist. During our initial meeting, my goal is to better understand your needs, and answer your questions. If for whatever reason you decide that we are not a good fit, I will do my best, based on our conversation and my initial assessment, to connect you to someone who is.
To that end, I offer a free 30min consultation. In the form below, tell me a bit about yourself and what you’d like to focus on, and what you're curious about. Sessions last for 55 minutes and working together weekly supports a deeper experience. My hourly fee is $250. I accept Aetna and NYU Wellfleet insurances, and am not a medicare/medicaid provider.
I look forward to hearing from you!
